IHA HomeStats™ To Provide Industry Category Data

ROSEMONT, IL (February 21, 2007) — The International Housewares Association (IHA), in partnership with Design Research Reports, Inc., today confirmed plans to launch IHA HomeStats. This program will allow participating housewares suppliers to be able to better measure both the overall size of the categories in which they participate as well as how their company’s sales compare to the category as a whole. The program is open to all industry participants. There is no charge to participate in 2007.  In 2008, there will be a modest fee that will be discounted for IHA members.

It is the long-term goal of IHA and Design Research Reports to address all home products categories. The first categories to be addressed will be cutlery and flatware with many suppliers already scheduled to participate.  “This program promises to help us pin down our market share and to more closely follow our price/value positioning. I am also pleased to see the program will be starting with two years of history,” said Anne Baldwin, vice president of sales with J.A. Henckels.

David Sank, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Oneida, Ltd. commented, “Oneida is excited about the IHA Homestats program because participation is easy, the reporting formats are clear and useful and, with it being web-based, we can access it anywhere in the world.”

“The International Housewares Association has long sought to provide in-depth information on homegoods products,” said Phil Brandl, IHA president “IHA HomeStats is a strong first step toward creating data that will help our industry grow.”
