New Social Media Tools, Online Product Directory at 2010 International Home + Housewares Show
Your Job, Made Easier
ROSEMONT, ILL. (January 2010)—Reporters, editors and producers of broadcast segments from and about the 2010 International Home + Housewares Show will find more resources to help them gather and file stories, map specific products and categories on the huge Show floor and see products online beginning in February.
As part of its expanding effort to further connect with members and have them better connect with the media, the International Housewares Association (IHA) has implemented a strategic social media plan. IHA has created special networking memberships on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and You Tube. In addition, it has posted Wikipedia pages for IHA and the Show. It has also started a blog on its website, www.housewares.org.
To help bloggers file from the Show, IHA will sponsor a Blogger’s Lounge in the Lakeside Center, Level 3 Lobby. Bloggers and other news media who want to blog or tweet from the Show will find it quick and easy at the lounge. Access to the lounge will be with a special Internet Media ribbon available in the Show’s News Center. In addition, a Twitter wall, showcasing tweets sent from the Show floor on a large screen, can be seen in the Lakeside Center Lobby. News media or exhibitors wishing to participate should use the #housewares hashtag to have tweets appear on the wall. These new and exciting marketing tools will instantly deliver messages and helpful comments to the industry.
And to help reporters assess products they may want to cover in advance of the Show, IHA’s website, www.housewares.org, has created the My Online Planner, a Show planning function that enables visitors to see photos of specific products, find manufacturers, get contact information for interviews and backgrounders and map the Show floor to locate specific products and categories. In addition, the press section on housewares.org will post exhibitors’ press releases before the Show and product demonstrations videos afterward the Show. The product areas will be password protected to ensure only media see the information.
Media who cannot attend the Show in person will find the new features useful, particularly for product-centric stories and contact information. It’s almost like being there. Questions? Please contact Debbie Teschke, IHA’s manager of public relations, at dteschke@housewares.org; or 847-692-0110.
