IHA checks in with Gregory Maitre, CEO of Cookut. Based in France, Cookut offers a wide range of products—including kitchenware, bakeware, tabletop items, novelties and even some accessories for electronics.

Cookut introduces its latest items at the 2017 International Home + Housewares Show in booth N8737 along the perimeter of Discover Design near the Design Debut.

Cookut presents products for the kitchen, table and home. The team in France works with talented designers to create products that are both innovative and fun. Rewarded for their design, their products are a reflection of what they love –practical objects, simple and cool.

Gregory, where do you find inspiration when designing new products?
We focus on making great, but simple, fun design.  How can we make the function of something that is traditionally complex, simple?  Remove all that is complex and often we find a more simple solution.

Mayozen

How do you choose which idea to take to product development?
Our first step with every design is to show a prototype to friends and family.  If I need to say more than 10 words to ‘sell’ the concept, I cancel.  The design must be self-explanatory.

How do you identify the key user audience for your products?
We design for everyone and hope our products are embraced by families around the world from many cultures.

Phone Stand

Is there an approach or look that joins the functionality, form or emotional appeal of your product line?
We want our products to leave a smile on your face and provide a “cool experience” when you use it. The “Aha” moment, followed by a smile means we have done a good job and you will hopefully share with your friends.

Easy Home Made Pancakes

How do new technologies influence your product design?
We are fond of 3D printing and we make many prototypes.

Where are your products manufactured?
We manufacturer all over the world and are proud to have several products which are made in France.

How do you see design’s importance in our industry as it moves forward?
Design is the most important element.  It is the driver.

Can you give us a preview of what you will be showing in your booth in Discover Design?
We are featuring new items at the Show that bring fun and function to the kitchen and dining experience.  Come see our S360 Table Selfie rotating camera stand and Mayozen Mayonaisse Shaker and our Easy Home Made Pancakes Shaker. Simple solutions to make life easier and more fun!
